Conference Purpose

Utility Engineering and Survey Institute (UESI) of Texas is proud to announce our fifth annual conference to highlight and promote membership in the Utility Community. Theme of the conference this year is “Utilities in Texas: Past, Present, Future”.  With your expertise, we hope to deliver the message related to the importance of Utility Coordination, Utility Engineering, and Survey issues on our projects throughout the state of Texas. By hosting an educational session, you’ll have an opportunity to not only show your expertise with session attendees but show your commitment to the education of interested parties in our great state.

Target Audience

Speakers should cater to an audience varying in experience in the Utility Industry.  Some professionals are at the start of their career, mid-level professionals and others are transitioning into the industry after working on private development or public transportation projects.  We also have seasoned professionals and executive leaders who attend to guide, network, and engage with attendees.  The goal of the conference is to unite and strengthen the network of the everyone involved in industry to encourage the exchange of ideas and improve communication among common partners.  Attendees hold a variety of positions including Utility Locators, Utility Coordinators, and Subsurface Utility Engineers who work for a variety of organizations including SUE Providers, Major Utility Owners and Local and State Public Agencies.

Presentations will be reviewed by the UESI Conference Committee.  Selections will be based on objective criteria, including:

Submission Requirements

Title of Presentation

Your title should capture, in 10 words or less, the topic or subject area that will be covered.

Program Abstract

In 300 words or less describe your presentation and build on your title while elaborating what the audience will learn.  Provide your learning objectives and be as concise as possible.  NOTE:  Please do not submit your entire PowerPoint presentation as your description.

Contact Information

Your proposed session will be reviewed based on the topic presented and assigned a time within our alotted schedule.  Please include contact information for your speaker and anyone else who should be contacted regarding your presentation.  Email addresses are required.


Expectations of Selected Speakers

If your proposal is accepted, Texas UESI asks that speakers adhere to the following:

Speakers must commit to presenting.   

We ask that you put forth your utmost effort to attend and speak.   During the time that you are formatting your session, please ensure that you have a backup speaker who is familiar with your topic and material in the event of an emergency.  Otherwise, we expect all speakers to fufill their commitment.

Meet all submission deadlines.  

To ensure the quality of the content you plan to present, the UESI Conference Committee wants adequate time to review your presentation and allow speakers adequate time to adjust and revise their presentations accordingly.  Please be timely with your submissions.

Share your presence at the conference with your social networks.  

The goal of the conference is to strengthen the utility engineering and surveying community.  Sharing your presence with others is a powerful way to promote this event and Texas UESI.
